The Steel Valley Council of Governments (SVCOG), established in 1973, is a non-profit organization representing municipalities in the Mon Valley region of Allegheny County. SVCOG works with its communities through the various programs it offers.
Steelers' Batch to renovate vacant

Charlie Batch doesn't just want to score on the gridiron; he wants to score in real estate development, too.
Batch, a quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, wants to convert the vacant Homestead Bakery Co. building in his hometown into 16 loft-style apartments, office space and six first-floor commercial stores, to be operated by small business owners.

Donations let library expand workout room
Through $125,000 in donations from several private donors, including Intuit Inc. Chairman Bill Campbell, a Homestead native, the cardio room at the athletic club at the Carnegie Library of Homestead will almost double in size and get some new equipment.
Donations to the library were made by the Campbell family, which includes Mr. Campbell and his wife, Roberta; as well as Ron Conway, a venture capitalist from Silicon Valley. Read more >>
